NCIG has reaffirmed its importance to the Hunter region this week, after releasing its 2018 Sustainability Report.

The Report gives an overview of operational performance along with NCIG’s contribution to the social and environmental wellbeing of the Hunter community.

Structured around the importance of stakeholders, the report highlights several key milestones achieved by NCIG throughout the reporting period, including:

  • 53.4 million tonnes of coal loaded onto 544 vessels
  • $47.9 million spent on goods and services in the Hunter region, a further $7.9 million in the rest of NSW
  • Over 170 local contractors and suppliers engaged by NCIG to provide products and services
  • The lowest number of injuries since commencing operations and a total recordable injury frequency rate of 7.58 per million hours worked.
  • NCIG’s strong culture reflected with only 2% staff turnover and 2.8% absenteeism
  • Environmental performance remaining strong with zero major non-compliances against approval or license conditions
  • ISO14001 and AS4801 accreditation was maintained
  • Over $250,000 to local community, not-for-profit, charity and sporting organisations during the reporting period, with over half the funds contributing to localized health initiatives
