The third annual Kurri Coalface Pedal, held on Sunday 2 April 2017, raised more than $21,000 for the region’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. The event was supported by Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group, a number of NCIG employees competed in the race.

Nearly 300 riders from around the region battled challenging bush tracks of 20 km, 40 km or 60 km in length that were designed to allow riders of any level to participate.

The event received support through NCIG’s Community Support Program and was also strongly promoted within the business to encourage participation. The race was a fun way of supporting an important community service while enjoying the local surrounds, which started and finished at Pelaw Main Public School.
