Pride and reputations were on the line when 84 Newcastle Coal employees took on our friends and neighbours PWCS in an annual fun-run hosted by Run Newcastle.
More than $75,000 was raised for children's health initiatives and this year helped to refurbish the Adolescent Ward at John Hunter Children’s Hospital.
The friendly battle between the two terminals was played out in a number of categories. While Newcastle Coal had more participants and a higher proportion of total employees involved, PWCS took out the gong for faster average time.
(Editor's note: one PWCS employee ran 12km in 37mins! It was always going to be uphill battle with talent like that)
In the CEO Challenge, Newcastle Coal's Aaron Johansen gave PWCS Chief Hennie Du Plooy a little too much of a head start and had to work harder than expected to run him down.
Overall, PWCS took home the silverware and bragging rights for 2016. Hanging the PWCS flag at our front door for 24 hours will give the Newcastle Coal team a bit of extra motivation for the next challenge.
BIG THANKS to everyone from the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group who got involved and helping to raise much needed funds for a great cause.
Stay tuned for the next challenge!
