Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group recognised as Employer of Choice at national awards

Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group has been honoured as an Employer of Choice in the Australian Business Awards 2016.

Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Johansen said he was proud to receive the award on behalf of the entire team at Newcastle Coal, recognising their approach to human resources as pivotal to the organisation’s success.

“What enabled Newcastle Coal to be recognised as an ‘Employer of Choice’ is the commitment and passion demonstrated by the people who work here.

“Our people are the key to Newcastle Coal’s vision to be a leading coal export terminal. Innovative and effective ways to engage with our employees really has helped to build a productive and inclusive organisation.

“There is a genuine sense of pride in our employees from helping to build the organisation that Newcastle Coal is today”, Mr Johansen said. 

The Australian Business Awards Employer of Choice recognises organisations that apply innovative human resources management.

Mr Johansen said the award assessed achievements in seven key areas of the business including Organisational Culture; Leadership and Strategy; Employee Education, Training and Development; Employee Health, Safety and Satisfaction; Performance Management; Recognition and Remuneration.

“We’ve been able to demonstrate consistently across the business our ability to build a workplace that people want to work in.

“Embedding our values towards the environment, our community and our employees throughout the business is evident in all aspects of the business including the ability to attract and retain high quality people.

“I see how proud our employees are of the business they helped to build, this award truly is a reflection of their dedication and hard work”, Mr Johansen said.
