Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) believes that companies have a responsibility to contribute to the communities in which they operate. NCIG is living up to this responsibility through its Community Investment.

At NCIG, our values shape the way we work. We value:

  • Teamwork
  • Involvement
  • Achievement
  • our People and the Environment around us.

The aim of our Community Investment initiatives is to form relationships with organisations and community groups who reflect and share our values, so that together, we can create outcomes that truly benefit the community.

In particular, our investments aim to meet one or more of the following objectives:

  • Promote overall community involvement
  • Promote physical or mental health through activity
  • Implement community-generated programs to improve local amenity and the environment
  • Promote and assist in education of our local community

About our Community Investment Programs

NCIG has two community funding programs which both provide assistance to organisations, charities, community groups or sporting organisations within the Hunter region.

1. Community Support Program

The Community Support Program caters for community organisations looking for funding assistance with an event, small project or purchase of equipment.

The allocation of funding is reviewed every six months, with applications open in March and September each calendar year. Generally grants are made between $1,000 and $10,000 and we request that 50% of the funds provided by NCIG are matched by existing funding or partnerships that are already in place. This is to ensure the project is not solely reliant on NCIG funding.

2. Community Partnership Program

The Community Partnership Program is a three year program designed to develop a close association with an organisation or group who is seeking to implement a grassroots project of significance that benefits the wider community.

A strong emphasis will be placed on projects or programs that fall under one of our community investment focus areas of community, environment, health and education – with applicants assessed on how well they align to our values and how they translate into a project that benefits the broader community.

Funding rounds open every six months in March and September, with funding of up to $30,000 available per year ($90,000 for the duration of the three year partnership). Each round has one key focus area. For example, in the March intake we may focus on Environmental programs, while in September our focus may be on Education.

Applications for the Community Partnership Program and the Community Support Program will open again in March 2019.
