Community

NCIG believes we have a responsibility to contribute to the community in which we operate, and being connected to our community is an important part of our approach to sustainability. As an organisation, we actively invest in our local community through our Support Programs. These programs aim to empower the groups, organisations and projects that contribute to a vibrant region.

We also believe that as a responsible community member, we need to be actively engaged within our community. Our Community Engagement initiatives offer the opportunity for constructive two-way interactions with our fellow community members and direct connection.

Community Engagement

We value meaningful engagement with the local community and have several avenues for community members to interact with NCIG directly.

The 24-hour community enquiries phone service (1800 016 304) and email address (enquiries@ncig.com.au) allow community members to contact NCIG directly to discuss both urgent and non-urgent matters at a time that suits them. These channels are available to receive requests for information or queries about our operations or community engagement activities.

In 2019,  NCIG established a Community Engagement Group (CEG). This group provides an avenue for NCIG to better understand the needs of the local community via community representatives covering local geographic areas around our operation. Our CEG meets regularly and allows us to communicate information about our operations and to give a voice to community members on matters important to them. This typically includes our operational activities, environmental performance and community investment initiatives. We publish the minutes of all Community Engagement Group meetings on our website.

In addition to the above, we routinely communicate information about our operations, activities and opportunities through available media channels including our social media, newsletters and email distribution list.

Community Investment

Our community investment activities aid organisations, charities, community groups or sporting organisations within the Hunter Region. A strong emphasis is placed on projects or programs that fall under one of our community investment focus areas of community involvement, environment, physical and mental health, and education.

NCIG believes that companies have a responsibility to contribute to the communities in which we operate. Our Community Investment Initiatives enable us to connect with local organisations and groups that reflect and share our values, and partner together to empower our community and enrich the environment.

Our Community Support Program (CSP)  and the Community Partnership Program (CPP) are the two key initiatives that help us deliver funding. The CSP delivers one-off grants of up to $10,000 to local community and not-for-profit organisations delivering programs and projects that benefit the local region. Whereas the CPP is a targeted program focused on long-term partnerships delivering a significant impact to the region. Together through these two programs, NCIG is actively investing in the future prosperity of our local community.
